Welcome to Carroll College Football

Last Saturday Jim, Jim Warner, our friend Sean and I attended Web's final football banquet. It was fun and filling, but bittersweet. I can't imagine no more football, so my great nephews will probably be seeing a lot of me at Memorial and Drake Fields in September! Anyway, Web won a "major award". The Pioneer Pride Award will be proudly displayed at the home of the Ebys. It was an honor voted on by his team members and coaches and is given to the player who most exhibits the traits of hard work, determination and Pioneer spirit. In other words, he worked his butt off for four years despite not playing much until his senior year where his contributions on-field included 12 tackles and off-field lots of firing other guys up to stick with it and play their butts off. So, to end the ramblings of this very proud mom, I'm going to try to include a short clip of Web during the last game. If it works, keep your eye on number 50 as he cuts back up field and makes a flying tackle. If it doesn't work, close your eyes and imagine it!

How cool, Lis -- I knew Web was #50 before I read the post -- you know, always look at the pictures before reading the captions LOL. This is so neat and a great addition to the BFB.

And Web, congratulations on receiving the Pioneer Pride Award -- that is something very special -- what a honor for you. Congratulations once again.

Jim W. called ... let's see, I guess late Sunday. He'd been busting with pride all day to tell someone about Web winning the award at the banquet but didn't want to steal your moment for doing it, so he'd given you a fair 24 hours. But how much more could he be expected to suffer? So he told me all about it. Way to go, Web!!!! -- and very, very much deserved.

I had the chance to see several of Web's senior year games this past fall (they've always managed to clash with my nephew Sean's home games with the Hanover Park Hurricanes, but this year the schedules left some chances), and it sure was fun! Thanks again, Lisa and Jim E., for having me along.
